Contact Company for Pricing
I was contacted by Pu’Er Zuxiang HighMountain Tea Garden Co. a couple months ago. They were looking for a blogger to help promote their teas and I am honored that they chose to contact me. I received six samples from them, including this Honey Fairyland Yellow Tea. Four for me to review and two for me to use for Tea Trivia Tuesday on Instagram! Be sure you are following me for your chance to win!
Packaging
My samples arrived safely from China in a sturdy box with plenty of padding. Five of my six samples arrived in silver light proof, air tight, and heat sealed zip lock bags. On the bags is the name of the company, Pu’Er Zuxiang HighMountain Tea Garden Co., LTD, the name and type of tea, and marks it as organic. They also provide their e-mail address for further communication. Steeping instructions are not readily available. They are a wholesale company so their prices are not available on the website but you can use their “Inquire Cart” to discuss pricing.
I opened the bag to an incredibly pleasant sweet, lightly floral aroma. It was lovely! The description on their website described it perfectly:
It is yellow tea direct from China. The name ‘yellow’ tea refers to the unique processing and the lovely, bright golden infusion color. Unlike any other tea, at first sip it evokes the exquisite pleasure of everyday luxuries. Captivating high floral notes mingle with a smooth honeyed body and a subtle creamy, buttery finish. A perfectly balanced tea curated just for you.
How to Brew
The Pu’Er Zuxiang HighMountain Tea Garden Co. website did not have steeping instructions so I did a little research and found a similar tea. I had had yellow teas before but not of this quality so I wanted to be sure I did it right and got the full experience. I found a similar quality yellow tea from a company I trust and followed their instructions for Gaiwan brewing. They recommended 175ºF water and a 6 steep process: rinse, 15s, 20s, 25s, 30s, 45s, 60s.
After the rinse, the tea seemed to come alive. All of a sudden the sweet floral aroma increased ten fold. It was so pleasant I could have sat there and smelled all day. But I was ready to give this incredible yellow tea a try!
The Experience
This Honey Fairyland 1st Grade Yellow Tea stuck true to its name and steeped to a gorgeous bright yellow color. The first steep was fairly light but each steep after that increased in intensity in color as well as flavor and aroma. The first steep was light and crisp, was not astringent at all with a light buttery aftertaste that lingered on the tongue for awhile after. With each steep the honey and floral aroma became more intense. This tea stayed perfect from the first sip to the very last after the sixth steep.
And once again, the website said it best:
It’s got this great smooth taste, which is not bitter in the slightest, and you really could notice the buttery finish. The best part is you don’t need to add anything to this tea to make it delicious: it already is perfect with no sugar added, even for someone who LOVES to add sweetener to things! It’s flavor is nice enough to where you just couldn’t justify changing it by adding sugar or honey.
With each steep, the leaves opened and brightened. The greens, oranges, and reds were stunning in the wet leaves.
Honey Fairyland 1st Grade Yellow Tea was an incredibly experience from start to finish. This would be the perfect tea to share with friends after dinner. It isn’t a dessert tea itself, but it would go well with a bread pudding or other honey dessert. This would also make a great introduction tea for friends who aren’t sure how they feel about tea. There is ZERO bitterness, just a pure pleasantness that can be sipped slowly and also enjoyed by the mugful all day long.
