Wild Berry Hibiscus Herbal Tea

Tea Forté- Herbal Tea Assortment

$15.00USD for 3.88oz (100g)

This Wild Berry Hibiscus Herbal tea was in a box set of Tea Forté’s Herbal Tea Sampler that I received in my Me Time Iced Tea Swap on Instagram. I was very excited to give these teas a try as I had been looking at a couple of their sample sets on Amazon for a few months.

Ingredients

Organic Hibiscus, Organic Apple Pieces, Organic Licorice Root, Organic Blackberry Leaves, Natural Flavor, Organic Orange Peels, Organic Raspberries, and Organic Rosehips

Packaging

This tea came in a super cute sample box of 5 different Herbal Tea blends. I received 3 samples of each of the 5 teas. Each sample comes individually packaged in a lightproof, airtight pouch with the name of the tea and states that it is pre-packaged for a 12oz cup of tea.

When I opened the bag I was immediately able to smell the hibiscus and rosehips. The florals overwhelmed the fruit flavors. The colors of the leaves and fruits were absolutely beautiful. It is a gorgeous tea to look at. I was looking forward to trying this one hot but even more looking forward to trying it iced!

How to Brew

Herbal teas are one of the easiest teas to make. It is incredibly difficult to mess them up. The back of the box says to pour a single pouch into any tea infuser, pour 12 ounces of boiling water over the tea, and steep for 5 minutes. Simple. I used one pouch to brew hot and used the other two pouches to brew iced (see The Perfect Cup of Tea  for more information on iced teas).
For the hot tea, I followed the instructions exactly as stated on the box. For the iced tea, I allowed it to brew a little longer, closer to 10 minutes, in my iced tea press and then added ice to the center console to cool the tea.

The Experience

First, let me say how beautiful the color was as the tea steeped. I couldn’t believe that it actually matched the tea cup I chose for the pictures. You could not ask for a more incredible red in an herbal tea! I attribute that to the hibiscus and rosehips.

Unfortunately, I was not as impressed by the taste. This tea is a lot more tart than I like. I would have to add a lot of sugar to make this drinkable on a regular basis. Now I know many people who really like their herbal teas to be tart, and for those people, this is a fantastic tea. I also found the flavor to be a little too toned down. I would have preferred a stronger flavor.

As this is an herbal tea, it can only be steeped once for optimal flavor.

Overall, this is not a tea that I would purchase on a regular basis. I am very glad that I had the opportunity to try it. Even though this Wild Berry Hibiscus is not a personal favorite, I do feel that for those who like tart teas this is a great option. If I had more of this, I would make it into a sweet iced tea. It would be great for summer.
